The Foundation - Ark's History
ARK Entertainment Group was founded in 2006 by Brothers David and Daniel Salas along with childhood Friend Corey Purdue. You can say that the foundation for ARK Entertainment Group was laid back in the early 90’s when Daniel and Corey played in a band together by the name of Lemon Tree. Lemon Tree created a real buzz, playing at High School parties and at several small venues in Orange County, CA. Unfortunately, Lemon Tree got lost in a sea of bands vying for the attention of the now all but extinct Record Label “AR” departments in the hopes to score a “Record Deal”. Needless to say, Lemon Tree did not ink a Record Deal nor did they move beyond the “Orange Curtin” that separates Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
Looking for some life direction Corey decided to join the military in 1995 and at about that time, older Salas brother David joined Dan with a new band (Space Train). Space Train put out an LP which was Executive Produced by Jerry Buss, owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Band found themselves on KLOS (95.5) and on KROQ (106.7) receiving both airplay and conducting in-studio interviews. The band became a staple at the infamous Forum Club located at the Great Western Forum, attending numerous concerts, hobnobbing with the likes of R.E.M., Guns & Roses & Counting Crows amongst others. Space Train seemed to be on the Industry “Fast Track”, playing up and down the Sun Set Strip in Hollywood and even showcased at The Great Western Forum. But even with its’ early success Space Train also fizzled into the night leaving brothers David and Dan wondering if their “train” would ever come.
Boy this Bio sure seems depressing doesn’t it? Well it shouldn’t! Because ARK Entertainment Group would not have been created had it not been for the challenges and lessons learned over the course of two decades by its founders. It was in 1997 when older Brother David told Dan “that when we get older we’re going to create a network of music minded people to support each other in all areas of music”.
After a decade apart, David, Dan and Corey met up once again in 2006 to bring their individual talents together to make a Dream reality by creating ARK Entertainment Group. Today ARK Entertainment Group provides an array of services including song writing, production, engineering, Artist Development & Consulting support as well as access to a network that represents just about all areas of the music business. That being said the Founders will be the first to tell you that they “don’t know it all” and that they are continuously learning about the ever changing music industry. What they don’t know they’re eager to learn and more than likely have a resource that will point them in the right direction. “We must take a bottom up approach” indicates David Salas, ARK CEO. ARK Entertainment Group is forging into the future, eager to build upon the existing music network to provide services to those music professionals looking for a “Hand Up”.
